You’ve probably already read that Sam Altman met with Hollywood execs to show off the amazing prowess of OpenAI’s new video generator, but that’s not what this post is about. Despite the hype, I don’ think AI will be generating feature length movies anytime soon. I think that Sam Altman is really good at maintaining the hype cycle for his multiple ventures and this rumor makes the unobtainable Sora even more desirable. If every aspiring AI filmmaker like myself is kept in a state of heightened anticipation, we’ll easily pay top dollar for another mostly subscription to add to our AI toolkit. However, if you make commercials, or content for social media, or quasi artistic things like Music videos, I think Sora is going to be an amazing tool. If you’d like to see the state of the art or what’s possible, you should check out this 2:19 spectacle from artist and musician August Kamp.
The new video, called Worldweight, is like a fever dream, taking you on a journey through a rain-soaked mind. The music is ethereal and gives off a sense of standing under a bus shelter on a dark evening in an empty street while the rain pours down in front of you.
And if you liked the “Air Head” Video that OpenAI premiered a few weeks ago, you will probably enjoy this interview with the Toronto Studio, shy kids, who made it.

Stability.ai Returns with Stable Audio 2.0
I haven’t paid a lot of attention to Stable Diffusion lately, but the do have a lot of innovations going on. I’ll certainly being giving their audio tool another try because it can now produce audio samples up to 3 minutes in length and it’s free. Test drive
Stable Audio 2.0 introduces the ability to produce complete musical tracks with coherent musical structure. Using latent diffusion technology, the model can generate compositions up to 3 minutes long containing distinct intro, development and outro sections. This is an advancement from the prior Stable Audio release that could only create short loops or fragments rather than full-length songs.
Tech Giants Say They Have a Plan to Retrain 95 Million Workers
A consortium that includes Google, IBM, Intel, and Microsoft has a lofty goal: Reinvent the careers of workers whose jobs may be lost to AI. The consortium will help impacted workers to find training programs and connect businesses with companies looking for their skillsets. What a relief!
A wide-ranging poll of 2,000 executives, conducted by Swiss staffing firm Adecco Group showed that 41% of them expect to employ fewer people because of the technology.
If you find this unsettling, you might enjoy watching Jon Stewart skewer the tech leaders. "The Daily Show" host mocked some of Silicon Valley's most influential AI leaders on Monday's episode, sharing clips of OpenAI's Sam Altman, Microsoft's Satya Nadella, and Google CEO Sundar Pichai among others.
