Taking a Break from the GPTs
Let’s Just Lead with The Survey, OK?
I’m still accepting responses for my survey. If you haven’t done it yet, imagine how good you’ll feel after you complete it. https://forms.gle/48dgFQz447GCWLHF9
Just How Good is Dalle-3?
It was just a few weeks ago that I wrote I was going to quit my $20 monthly subscription to OpenAI because the images out of Dalle-3 weren’t amazing enough. However, the results of my survey (so far) are showing a HUGE interest in it and this article from Ars Technica explores how they are using it on a regular basis.
It’s impossible to dismiss the power of AI when it comes to image generation, with the rapid increase in visual acuity and ability to get a usable result, there’s no question it’s beyond being a gimmick or toy and is a legit tool.
Board of Innovation Summit December 6-7
To be clear, I have intention of attending a “virtual” conference, but I am always impressed with what the Board of innovation puts out. Go to the website and glance at the speakers and the agenda if you’d like to know what’s happening on the cutting edge of AI, Design, and Business. Check it out
Meta Raises the Bar on AI Generated Video
I haven’t played with it yet, but if you want a sneak peak on how I’ll be experimenting this weekend, you can red this TechCrunch article about Meta’s new text to video generator. While the results may be cherry-picked, it looks light years ahead of RunWayML. Or you can start playing with the tool right now.
Deepmind and YouTube Create New AI Music Generator: Lyria
For all you who know Lyria Shaffer-Bauck (SCCA ‘21), send her a high-five because they obviously named it after her. This new set of tool lets you create music for YouTube Shorts, and help with the creative process (for example, building a tune out of a snipped that a creator might hum). Alongside these, DeepMind said it’s adapting SynthID — used to mark AI images — to watermark AI music, too. Check it out
Adobe Releases AI Powered Audio Editing Tool
Adobe unveiled Project Sound Lift, an AI-powered technology that separates speech recordings into distinct tracks of voices, non-speech sounds, and background noise. This allows users to easily manipulate audio recordings, such as enhancing, transforming, or controlling speech and sound independently. Check it out
Midjourney Inspiration for the Week
I’m always on the lookout for Medium Stories that are not held hostage behind a paywall. So if you were in the mood for some eye candy or inspiration, prompts included, check it out
Also take a look at the work of Jan Tredop, (SCCA class of 2009) who is posting some amazing Midjourney work on his Behance page.
That’s it for me for this week. Hope you’re a having a great time and if you have any requests, send me a message! Better yet, fill out my survey and share this newsletter with your friends!
